Seaton
The town of Seaton boasts an extensive shopping centre and offers a wide variety of places to eat and shops to spend in. It is a more modern-looking town than Sidmouth.
The beach and sea front are both facing toward Lyme Bay. The promenade itself is over a mile long - it stretches from what is called "Castle Hill" in the West, right through to the estuary of the River Axe in the East.
Other places to visit around the Seaton area are the Seaton Marshes nature reserve, the Axmouth Harbour and the villages of Colyford and Colyton - which can both be visited by a tram journey.
The town is around four miles from our cottage and there is also a nice walk along a footpath between the cliffs of Seaton and Beer.
